Summer always seems to fly by and before you know it, back-to-school season is upon us and it is time to prepare for the start of another school year. And while some teens might get a little anxious at the thought of returning to school and homework, my daughter finds she feels better when she goes shopping for back-to-school clothes.

Clothes shopping is a perfect way to spend quality time together, have a little mother-daughter bonding time, and calm any back-to-school jitters. My daughter and I like shopping at Kohl's. White was the new black on the catwalk of New York's Fashion Week. The white hot hue was a standout with designers 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Rucci, Victoria Beckham, and more.

Some of us may shy away from wearing white because it is difficult to keep clean, however, as long as items are washable, it is easy to keep the look fresh and crisp!

First, there's the classic black sweater. You can't go wrong with this must-have wardrobe item. I love it! It is a poly/rayon/spandex blend and washed well without pilling. I would recommend washing on a gentle cycle with the sweater turned inside out for best results. 

The paisley print maxi is the perfect travel companion. It is 95% Polyester, 5% spandex and resists wrinkling (hand wash cold). With its vast array of bright colors, you could really have a lot of fun with a variety of colorful tops, jewelry, or scarves.  

Both maxi skirts are made of a thinner fabric. While I didn't feel the need for a slip, I would suggest wearing proper undergarments to avoid panty lines. 

In the first two photos below, I am wearing a casual day look. All my boots have heels because I'm short, but I would love this look even more paired with a lower heel boot.

The triangle print maxi skirt is also made of a rayon/spandex blend. It has a fold-over waistband and a slit on both sides.

In the last photo below, I've switched out the boots for classic black patent pumps and pearls. Now, I'm ready for an evening out. Hubby doesn't know it yet, but he has to take me out to dinner! (hee-hee) I'm dressed after all...
